Rhetorical situation is finding out how to solve a problem and finding the solution. In this episode of PR, designers have a budget of $200 for their design and this is the first example I found in the episode. Designers have to make this budget work for their project because if they do then they make it to the next round and if they don’t successfully do so then they are eliminated from the show.
Brandon is assigned to design for Marsha- Brandon is a menswear designer so he doesn’t have much experience with dressing women so this is a good step in the right direction for him to get out of his comfort zone and make things work with what he has. Brandon will be designing a look for Marsha so from this he must make do with what he has and experiment with women’s clothing. This is another example I found in the video.
Designers are taken to Mood to go shopping with a 20 minute time limit and this is another situation example. Designers must make the most of the time that they are given so that they are able to have all the materials possible so that they can create their look in a timely manner. Designers have only a small amount of time to use to find all of their materials for their whole design and this can be very overwhelming but designers must make the most of the situation and the time that they are given.
Lastly this term is describing how to make due with the situation that you are placed in, not every situation will be ideal as seen in the episode but that is life and this relates back to your identity and figuring out yourself and trying to work best with what you are provided with. Designers have only a certain set time to work with to create the best look possible for “LEAP” and if their design fails then they are on the line and they could lose their opportunity on the show, which would be life changing if won.
